It is important to protect your family and property from the risk of fire. By fitting smoke alarms and testing them regularly you could give yourself vital seconds to be able to get everyone out of a house in case of a fire.

Remember if there is a fire in your home - get out, stay out and call 999.

Home fire risk assessment

All residents of Wigan Borough are entitled to a free home fire risk assessment.

They are carried out by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

It only takes 20-30 minutes and will give you practical advice on how to safeguard your home against fire and will include free smoke alarms where appropriate.
