Learning and Play
The Ducklings Day Nursery has achieved Outstanding status from OFSTED and constantly strives to provide excellent standards of education and invaluable early experiences for its young members. The nursery seeks to enhance the quality and consistency of learning in the early year’s sector. It sets high standards for equal opportunities and works hard to nurture and provide the 'unique' child with carefully planned and assessed play opportunities. The Ducklings Day Nursery employs an experienced infant teacher who works alongside a dedicated team of qualified practitioners to disseminate good teaching and practice.
The nursery has requested the outside support of a fully qualified dance teacher who will attend on a timetabled basis in order to deliver movement and dance sessions. The teacher will help to enrich the children’s physical and musical development and is at no extra cost to parents.
Care For The Unique Child
Practitioners at the nursery endeavor to create a compassionate, loving atmosphere within a highly stimulating and educational environment. The nursery comprehends that every child matters and that every individual has sensitive needs which must be met. Each child within the nursery will have their own key worker. The child’s key worker will be the main individual who is responsible for their well-being on a daily basis. This Key Worker will also ensure that information about the child is exchanged with the parents.
Enabling Environment
The nursery has one younger baby room, The Nestlings room, which caters for babies from 3 months to approximately 12 months old. For older babies who are between 12 months and 24 months we have the Hatchlings room. The 2 and 3 year olds are in the Ducklings room. The final provision for children up to 5 are in the Fledglings Suite. All rooms are equipped with clean, stimulating, child-friendly resources. The rooms are welcoming, well-organised and have suitable areas for playing, eating and resting.
The nursery’s outside play areas are safe, suitable and exciting and will be accessed on a daily basis.
Nutrition
One of our most stringent beliefs is to ensure that all foods and drinks consumed must be healthy, balanced and nutritious. The nursery cook prepares these snacks and meals on the premises, and is aware of current food hygiene legislation and all meals will be prepared under strict standards.
Parental Partnership
The nursery has a charter for parental partnership and is thoroughly committed towards creating excellent relationships. The nursery recognises the importance of verbal communication and, subsequently, parents are actively encouraged to discuss the needs and progress of their children. We endorse the formula of happy parents + happy practitioner = happy children.
The Ducklings Nursery invites parents, children and visitors to view the setting. Practitioners are ready and willing to discuss any issues and answer any questions about the nursery.
