I am a 34 year old, active and enthusiastic Early Years Teacher running my own childminding setting. I have worked with children, in a school / nursery setting since graduating from University thirteen years ago. I live in New Springs, Aspull, with my husband, a deputy headteacher in a primary school.
I created Little Caterpillar Childminding with the aim of finding and exploring young children's fascinations. By tuning in early to the range of strengths, interests and passions of children as they begin to emerge, Little Caterpillar gain an insight into their potential and plan opportunities that enable this to be celebrated and nurtured.
The earliest years are a critically important time, the work of Little Caterpillar could transform the child's future educational experiences.
Between birth and the age of 5 years (or the end of the reception class at school) all children will be cared for within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
As your childminder, it is my responsibility to fulfil the requirements of the EYFS and ensure that your child receives the best possible level of care and education, my most recent Ofsted report comments, "The Quality of provision in the Early Years Foundation Stage is OUTSTANDING".
You can check out my full experience and Ofsted Report on my website.
I have an Honours degree in Psychology, Early Years Teacher Status and Signalong trained.
Before relocating to Wigan, I had worked in several Bolton schools with children of all ages, gaining experience of the education system and undertaking training in Speech and Language Therapy, Child Protection, Special Educational Needs such as Autism and Asperger’s and the Specialised Listening to Children qualification - ELKLAN.
I have significant insight and experience of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, which I work within and exceed.
My husband is a successful primary school teacher, and is now Deputy Head; we jointly write plans based on the needs of the children in my care to ensure that children are well equipped for starting their more formal learning in a School Setting.
