Our Before / After School Club is based at St James Road, Billinge, Wigan, WN5 7AA.  We provide this service for children aged 4 - 11 years within our area. The children are taken and collected from school in our own nursery transport, which is fully equipped with booster seats and seat belts. Qualified staff take and collect the children to and from school daily, ensuring each child is signed in and out of school by the teaching staff. This is to ensure all children are accounted for both morning and afternoon pick up or drop off.

Notes

Baby Room

The Baby room is specifically designed to care for children from 6 weeks to approximately 1 year in a warm, secure, friendly atmosphere. There is a floor area to encourage mobility and comfortable, homely sleeping areas. From starting nursery, each baby has their own daily record of eating, sleeping, changing times, the day’s activities and baby’s individual achievements. This self contained unit has the benefits of its kitchen area which consists of a variety of amenities for all your babies needs.

Within the room we only have toys that are specified for the age range of the babies. Activities that are planned and carried out will also be constructed with all of the babies ages and individual needs in mind. Planning of activities will be displayed within the room.

He/she will be in a adult to child ratio of 1:3 making the transition from home to nursery as comfortable as possible. All babies are supplied with pampers nappies and toiletries. Before babies are weaned we do ask for parents to provide their choice of made up formula – as baby progresses to solids our cook will blend our food to the consistency suitable for the individual baby.

Tiddler Room

Our Tiddler room is designed for children aged around 12mths up to 18 mths. Once babies are walking confidently, they need more space and apparatus to develop their physical skills – this is what the ‘ Tiddler room’ offers.

The room is open to the more ‘mobile’ babies, and the move from the baby room will be an agreed decision with parents and each child's key person and done gradually. He/She will be in a adult to child  ratio of 1:3.

As always you can access your child’s records at any time and all planning will be displayed on the wall. In this room your child will take part in a lot of messy play as we believe that this encourages their development. For this reason we ask that you could bring a change of clothes for your child.

As at this age your child will be moving around more. We recommend that they wear soft soled shoes for nursery, this is for health & safety reasons.

Lower Toddler Room-Our  Lower Toddler room is for children aged 18- 26months, and the ratio is 1 adult to 3 children. This is the room of excitement and lots of hands on experiences. The room offers static areas – creative, messy, construction, role play, sand and water, and a quiet area. There is also on offer for our tired toddlers time to sleep, they have their own individual beds for sleep times appropriate to each child's needs.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is also used within this room and planning is done to suit the needs and age ranges of the children. As always you will always be able to access your child’s progress and developmental records.

Within toddlers we continue to build on your child’s social and interaction skills and we usually notice that children communicate more with their peers. At all times sand and water will be available for your child to access as we find this promotes all areas of development.

Upper Toddler Room-Our Upper Toddler room is for children aged 2-3 yrs, and the ratio is 1 adult to 4 children. This is the room of excitement and lots of hands on experiences. The room offers static areas – creative, messy, construction, role play, sand and water, and a quiet area. There is also on offer for our tired toddlers time to sleep, they have their own individual beds for sleep times appropriate to each child's needs.

Within the toddler room we usually start potty training with your child. It is your decision if you think they are ready. This is encouraged to be started at nursery at the same time as it is at home. A record of your child’s potty training progress will be monitored and sent home at the end of each day. At this time we ask that plenty of spare clothes are provided as accidents do happen. The toddler’s room has easy access to the nursery’s toilet facilities and potty’s. The toilets and wash basins are at the correct height for children to promote independence in the bathroom.
