Currently open, not providing school holiday care
I became a registered childminder in 2012 and have been committed to providing the highest standard of care possible. My most recent Ofsted inspection resulted in a good grading in all areas. As a result of my commitment to high standards and ongoing improvements I am now able to offer 2, 3 and 4 year old funded places. I am able to accommodate children with addition needs and disabilities, making adaptations to my home or attending additional training to support requirements.
Caring for children has been a passion of mine for many years. I became a volunteer for Homestart working with children and their families experiencing a range of difficulties, doing this for several years before embarking on five years of studying. This resulted in me gaining a BA Honours degree in Childhood and Youth Studies and Sociology, graduating in 2010 I now have an in depth insight into children and their childhoods including child development, behaviour and learning. My learning and training is substantial and ongoing as I strive to remain fully informed and up to date, I regularly attend training sessions in the evenings and weekends in addition to e-learning and regular visits from my development officer. I also subscribe to a number of newsletters and journals.
Some of my qualifications include Paediatric First Aid Training, Food and Hygiene, Safeguarding and Early Years Foundation Stage training, a Domestic Violence Awareness course, Speakeasy, Firm foundation in phonics, equality and diversity, SEN code of practice, ECAT, and Triple P.
My home provides a stimulating and fun environment, giving children the opportunity to learn, develop and explore. The children have a large fully equipped play room and are able to make use of most of the other rooms in my home. I have a large garden to the rear which we use all year due to the installation of artificial grass. I have a large variety of indoor and outdoor equipment for children’s use and embark on regular outings to soft play areas and playgroups to further enhance their experiences. Topic work is done regularly to build upon the children’s knowledge and awareness of the world around them.
I have fantastic parental feedback and good working relationships with other childcare providers in the area. Please visit my Facebook page, Lucy’s Childminding Services – Abram for more information and pictures.
