Graduate led (Level 6) childminder in the Newtown area of Wigan with over 10 years EYFS experience.
I have worked in Early years for over 10 years in a number of positions including a toddler room, preschool, crèche and was also Deputy Early Years Manger at a primary school. I have worked with children with a varying range of needs including ASD, global delay, behaviours that challenge, communication needs and hearing impairment. I have a range of qualifications including First aid, speech and language, portage training, autism awareness just to name a few.
I have always loved working with children, providing them with exciting and challenging experiences to support and promote their development. I attend local playgroups, community sessions, parks and farms. I have an adapted room at my home specifically for the needs of the children and they are able to access the outdoor provision at all times.
I have an assistant who works alongside me and who is also doing a formal qualification. I provide spaces for eligible 2 and 3 year old children and I am also signed up to the tax free childcare scheme. We attend playgroups, community sessions, local parks, play centres, farms and have outings such as Knowsley Safari park, the airport, museums... whatever the children are interested in.
We have recently introduced a wellbeing session into our weekly routine which is either Yoga or an activity that allows children to become aware of their feelings and emotions and how to regulate them. It also allows children to learn they sometimes need to take time out to calm themselves and how to be kind to themselves and to others.
