At Jen's Juniors Childcare I provide quality childcare in a nurturing, safe, home from home environment.
I am a mother of three, stepmother to two grown up children and a nanna of two.
My setting is predominantly a child led environment. The emphasis is on open-ended play with quality resources. I also provide activities based on a child’s interests that support learning and development and inspire imagination and curiosity. I encourage outdoor play and physical activity. There is a secure, enclosed outdoor area which can be used daily in a variety of ways. I also have a background in art and design, so I take great pleasure in providing media, materials and space to foster a love of creativity and experimentation.
The ethos at my setting is to provide a responsive approach to childcare. This involves observation of the children, getting to know them and responding consistently and sensitively to their needs. I believe this helps to enhance a child’s self esteem and emotional resilience as they learn they are valued and understood.
Independence and self-care form a pivotal part of our daily routine. Time will be given to practice these essential skills.
I believe a healthy environment is important and I am working towards providing a more sustainable setting. I am making gradual swaps to more ecologically sound alternatives where possible. I welcome the use of cloth nappies/wipes if this is preferred, having used them for my own child.
I have previous experience as a TA at Lamberhead Green Junior School.
I am Ofsted registered, fully DBS checked, have a Paediatric First Aid certificate, Food hygiene certificate and safeguarding training also undertaken.
