The service has been established since 2013, growing from strength to strength; gaining fantastic outcomes and benefits for both children and adults. We run intense hour long sessions working in small groups or on a one to one basis, leading the session and using specialist techniques to encourage communication, relaxation and interaction. Each session is tailored to the specific needs of the individuals or groups.
We have the equipment to turn most spaces into a Multi-Sensory setting for an hour. The service is available to all ages and abilities. The team work in schools, play centres, care homes, mental health wards, and many other care and community settings.
We have case studies, which highlight positive outcomes for those who have ADHD, Autism, ASD, Global Developmental Delay and PTSD to name a few, in addition to family issues such as sibling rivalry.
Our sessions include:
- Mindfulness: relaxation techniques that can be utilised after sessions as coping strategies.
- Elements of play therapy are used to give us insight and understanding of the children we are engaging with.
- Support for children and adults who are dealing with social and emotional issues, such as stress, depression, anxiety and behavioural problems.
- Sensory stimulation supports language development, cognitive growth and fine motor skills.
We structure each session to suit the needs and specific outcomes of the children and adults.
Sessions can be quiet, busy, calm, visually stimulating or relaxing- Sensoriel will work with the carers/families and the individual to create the sensory experience they feel most beneficial. We find people learn to communicate and open in within the session, they gain respite from their own conditions and have both a therapeutic and enjoyable experience.
Additionally within a multi-sensory setting, we can project reminiscence films on to our screen whilst using aromatherapy smells, such as carbolic soap and coal fires for those people living with dementia.
