COVID-19: We are open as normal
Set in over half an acre of grounds, Redwood’s two converted Victorian houses are situated just off Junction 26 of the M6 motorway at the Orrell interchange. We can offer you and your family a traditional approach to childcare and learning across all of the different rooms at Redwood. We are also lucky enough to have beautiful gardens overlooking miles of farmer’s fields, making us the ideal setting for commuting parents and a haven for little ones starting on their learning journey.
Redwood accommodates children from 6 weeks old to school-age across the two buildings with exciting, challenging and stimulating activities on offer every day, along with genuine care and nurture your little one is sure to be kept busy, safe and having fun! We have vacancies for free 15 hour places for 2 year-olds and also the 15 and 30 hours per week of funding for eligible 3 year olds.
Janet opened the nursery in March of 1992 after finding it very difficult to find good quality childcare for her first child Kate. Kate grew up at Redwood House and has seen it expand and develop over the years. Kate now works here, as Nursery Manager and Learning Co-Ordinator, having achieved an English Literature and Language degree at the University of Liverpool in 2012, and the Early Years Professional Status at Edge Hill University in 2013.
In March of 2018 we very happily celebrated 26 years of caring for and teaching children, and promise to continue into the future providing the best quality nurture and experiences for your child, as well as quality and consistency.
It was with great pride, that in June of 2016, we received the award for Number 1 Nursery in Wigan in the Nursery of the year competition voted by parents, both past and present in the Wigan Evening Post and Wigan Observer. We were overjoyed to be awarded Nursery of the Year for the second time it had been put to the public in 2018 too! Each child and family that progresses through Redwood is treated with individuality and respect and we enjoy nothing more than watching our pupils flourish into brilliant young ladies and gentlemen.
We recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents and our aim is to offer a professional and personal childcare service of the highest quality. Our aim is to be a ‘home from home’, where your little one can grow and develop in a safe, secure environment.
Redwood has an extensive set of policies and procedures which we all work to and you are invited to read through them at your leisure. Please ask to see them during your visit or at any time whilst your child is enrolled here. More details and examples of our policies can be found within this prospectus.
Of primary importance to us all at Redwood House is the happiness of your child. We endeavour to create a happy, stimulating and caring environment to embed sound foundations for your child’s social, physical, emotional and intellectual development all in preparation for Primary school.
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as our framework for appropriate teachings and activities here at Redwood. This covers the essential aspects of learning for children aged 0-5 years and they are: Personal, Social & Emotional development; Communication & Language; Physical development; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World and Expressive Arts & Design. If you would like to see more information about the EYFS, please speak to Kate (the Manager) or any of the members of staff within the nursery.
Should you have any queries after having read through this prospectus, we will happily discuss them with you at a time of your convenience. If you or the person you are visiting with has difficulty reading or understanding any part of this prospectus, then please let me know so that I can arrange to let you have a copy which covers your needs.
