Higher Bors Wood

Higher Bors Wood lies 100m to the south of the village of Pennington Green near Wigan. The site was acquired and planted by the Woodland Trust in 1999.

The site consists mixed of native broadleaf planting, with a mixed shrub layer, with just under half of the site left as open space to provide views and areas for leisure; to create habitats and food sources for all kinds of wildlife. Including a wildflower meadow, with an area of fruiting trees has been planted to provide a protected and rich feeding ground for birds and small mammals.

The site contains an informal path network is well used by the general public. The footpath network also links directly with Borsdane Wood, and from there the wider countryside.
