Higher Folds 2 Year Olds Nursery and Pre-School

The Nursery is fully equipped for the education of 2, 3 and 4-year-olds and has excellent free-flow indoor and outdoor facilities for children to learn and play.

Higher Folds 2 Year Olds Nursery and Pre-school opened in April 2014 in Higher Folds Community Centre and we are an established nursery that plays an important and key role in the early years education of local children. It is the only 2-year-old funded nursery in the area.

In December 2017 the Nursery was inspected by Ofsted and received a 'Good' rating.  To maintain this and continually improve we always strive to be outstanding in the activities and facilities we offer children and parents.

To introduce new ideas and continue the success of the Nursery we have an excellent working relationship with Wigan Council Early Years team and other local nurseries who we always share good practice with. 

The Nursery is an open plan room with accessible toilets for the children. The Community Centre and Nursery are fully accessible for children, parents and carers with a ramp on entry, wide entrance doorways and disabled toilet facilities.

The Nursery session times are:

Mornings 9:00am-12:00pm

Afternoons 12:30pm-3:30pm

Full days 9:30am-3:30pm 

There is a maximum capacity of 28 children who may attend the Nursery at any one time.

The nursery employs six members of staff and volunteers also support the children. The Nursery Manager is qualified to level 4 Management and Leadership. The Pre-school Deputy currently has a level 3, one practitioner has recently completed leadership and management training. We also have one practitioner level 3 and one with level 2 Childcare training and a trainee level 1.

The Manager and Deputy are also currently working towards their level 5 in Childcare.
