First Steps Private Day Nursery (Pennington)

We provide all year round day care for 51 weeks of the year for children from 0 to 5 years providing funded and non-funded childcare places.

First Steps Nursery, Pennington opened in 1997 and is situated in the Pennington area of Leigh.

The nursery is open Monday–Friday from 7:30am–6:00pm. The nursery has been thoughtfully designed to provide full day care for babies and young children, offering safe and secure enclosed indoor and outdoor play areas. 

Our aim is to provide a happy, stimulating and safe environment where all children can develop to their full potential. We believe that what is learned in early childhood is the foundation for a child’s journey through life. Each stage of development and learning is valued and respected in its own right. We believe every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfil their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. 

We welcome all children aged 0 to 5 years and endeavour to meet their individual needs. We have 3 age-specific rooms - Tinies, Early Learning and Pre-school. We accept children for 51 weeks a year. Children can also access a term-time only place if they are eligible for a 15 or 30 hour funded place. 

Children have continuous access to our secure separate outdoor areas. These areas are spaces where the children can climb, run and explore.

At First Steps Nursery, Pennington we have highly trained, enthusiastic and friendly staff who provide a stimulating and loving environment for children, giving your child the best start in life. Our pre-school room has a qualified teacher working within it. The premises are equipped and maintained to the highest standards with excellent attention to health and safety. We have a Level 5 Food Hygiene Rating in recognition of our excellent cleanliness standards within our kitchen.
