Nursery at Mosley Common Children's Centre, St. John's Primary School

Welcome

Situated within the Start Well linked site, the building is set within a green field site and has a separate play area to the school. We have more than 50 years experience in childcare and take pride in the quality of care we provide. All staff hold a minimum of level 3 childcare; the manager having Early Years Teacher Status and all are pediatric first aid trained.

Open termly, we take children from age 2 including funded 2 year olds and 3 and 4 year old children accessing 30 hours. At the moment we take 2 year olds in morning sessions only but will consider afternoon sessions too if there is enough demand. We use Toddler Talk and Letters and Sounds to encourage communication skills and all activities are based on the EYFS. We believe that each child matters and children develop best when they learn through exploration whilst enjoying themselves; that’s why we do ‘in the moment planning’ so we can respond quickly to children's changing interest. This lets the children lead their learning journey.  

To prepare your child for their time with us we have settling in sessions and your child is assigned a Key Worker. As with our planning, we let the children lead when choosing their Key Worker. 

We promote healthy living to our children by providing a mid-morning and mid afternoon snack and drink. Water is available throughout the day as and when the children want it. Children staying over the lunch period can bring their own packed lunch or purchase a school meal.
