Hilton Street Childcare

Hilton Street Childcare aims to provide quality childcare for families within the Ashton, Wigan and District area. Our provision aspires to remain value for money, offer flexible childcare solutions in a homely environment and with strong focus on family values, where children can belong, contribute and thrive.

We provide places for children in nursery aged 8 weeks old to 5 years old. Children are cared for in three separate playrooms: Giraffes 0-2, Hedgehogs 2-3 and Monkeys 3-5. The environments are tailored to each age and promote children's learning through play, following the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

You can access free childcare here, we offer 15 hours funded hours for eligible 2-year-olds and 15 hours for all 3-5-year-olds, plus we are offering the free 30 hours for eligible families too.

We have a strong team of practitioners with a wealth of knowledge between them and qualifications from degree level 6, foundation degree level 5 and NVQ levels 2-4. We pride ourselves on having a very low turn over of staff which is very important for continuity of care for the children.

Our onsite chef is also highly qualified and provides the children with hearty, nutritious meals and plans the menus according to the seasons.

Each child that attends our setting will be allocated a key person who will work closely with your child and complete their progress and educational records. You will be able to access your child's records at any time and at our parent’s evenings.

To help your child settle in we offer some stay and play sessions, usually the week before they are due to begin their time with us.

We offer a range of communication methods to our families. The nursery has a website, a closed private Facebook page, 'Ourschoolsapp' for your smart phone where you will receive notifications of news and events. In our 0-2 room, parents receive a daily record of their child’s day. Our 2-3 room work in partnership with the local health visiting team and will host your child’s two-year-old joint assessment here at nursery for you to attend. In our 3-5 room we send home a paper which tells you what the children are learning about and how you can support your child’s learning at home.

We have two specially designed outdoor learning zones where children get the opportunity to run, climb, play ball and use ride-on’s. The children get chance to learn about planting and growing in our special planting area. We have greenhouses where we grow vegetables, herbs and fruits. From time to time, the practitioners will take the children out for visits to the local town. They love to go to the park, flower park, woods, supermarket and pet shop.

Children attending Nursery can benefit from P.E. sessions, dance lessons, swimming lessons, cookery classes and access to interactive white boards, laptops and tablets.

All our practitioners are First Aid trained and we benefit from having a defibrillator on site which can be used by our community.
